Mrs. Kristyn Spranger

Hi and welcome to our class webpage!

My name is Kristyn Spranger and I have been teaching fifth grade for the past 13 years. I love teaching and have thoroughly enjoyed the time I have spent working with our fifth grade students here at Jacob Wiens!

For the past three years, I have had the privilege of sharing a class with Mrs. Kim Gray. I am here  teaching on Mondays, Tuesdays, and every other Friday. Mrs. Gray teaches on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and every other Friday.

In fifth grade, we have high expectations for student learning and behavior. Fifth grade common core standards give us fun and interesting curriculum, so when our students come to school ready to learn, they can have a fantastic school experience! Please encourage your students to always come to school prepared with supplies, completed homework, and a good attitude! :)

School Rules:
  1. Be Respectful!
  2. Be Responsible!
  3. Be Safe!

Fifth Grade Behavior Policy:

In order to maintain a positive learning environment for your students, our fifth grade team has a very strict behavior policy: Students who do not adhere to school rules (safe/respectful/responsible) will be subject to appropriate consequences, including the loss of privileges such as field trips and other special events.  Minor offenses will typically be handled within the grade level, but when offenses continue and/or escalate, consequences will also escalate. Regarding the loss of privileges, please understand that we truly want all of our students to participate in all of our special activities, but in an effort to keep students safe and learning enjoyable, we must take behavior issues seriously.  We will have a panel of staff members to approve any suspensions from trips/activities. All panel decisions will be approved by administration and will be final.  Students may lose activities for behaviors including but not limited to:

  • defiance and disrespect towards others

  • dangerous/threatening actions

  • suspension from school

  • 3+ low-level referrals

  • multiple Friday detentions

  • sexual harassment/misconduct
