Jacob Wiens Elementary staff and students had a special visit by Congressman Raul Ruiz on April 4, 2016. Congressman Ruiz spoke about the importance of education at an assembly for fourth and fifth graders.
Congressman Ruiz spent time during the assembly talking to students about the journey to his career. He overcame many struggles and attributes his success to hard work and the ability to set personal goals for himself. Dr. Ruiz surprised everyone when he presented the school with a flag that was flown at the Capitol building in Washington D.C.Principal Dana Childs-Mazzei said, “I am so proud and honored to have the opportunity to fly an American flag that flew over our Nation’s capitol at my campus.”
