Greetings Jacob Wiens Elementary Families,
Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! It is truly an honor to serve at Jacob Wiens Elementary School (JWES) as your Principal. I acknowledge that this year will be an adjustment for students, families, and staff members. I look forward to partnering with you to provide our scholars with the same level of rigorous, engaging, and high-quality elementary school experience via an online platform, hybrid, or traditional model. Please know that you have my commitment to work hard to create a campus that fosters communication, collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, innovation, and positive cross-cultural competence. I consider JWES the perfect place to do the most important work in the world, educate our children
Over the past 16 years, I served in a variety of teaching and educational leadership roles. I earned my Bachelor's degree from UCLA and my Master’s degree from Azusa Pacific University where I studied Educational Leadership. This is my second year here at Jacob Wiens as your Principal. I also served as the Assistant Principal of Hemet Elementary School and prior to that, I was here at Jacob Wiens Elementary as Assistant Principal. I have also worked as a district-based instructional coach and had the pleasure of serving all elementary, middle, and high schools in our district. I am excited and eager to serve as an educational leader here at JWES and work with you as a partner in education to ensure your child’s success.
As your principal, please know that relationships and community engagement is very important to me. It is my belief that social/ emotional development is as essential to student success as academics. Therefore, our goal is to provide time for scholars to build connections with teachers and peers and to build a stronger sense of community and ownership at Jacob Wiens Elementary. We will have several opportunities for family engagement (these will be offered virtual while in an online teaching model) including literacy and STEAM nights, cultural events, parent committees, and many other special assemblies. We know technology does not come easy for everyone and hope to make these events positive experiences for all.
All of us at JWES are eager and excited to begin what promises to be an amazing year. We will continue to provide academic experiences for our scholars that are rigorous, relevant, and help them build relationships while making real-world connections. As your Principal, it is important to me that everyone who steps through our doors is excited to be here and everyone who calls feels welcomed and listened too! This attitude enables us to meet the challenges of academic excellence in a positive, fun, and nurturing environment. My door is always open and I welcome your input.
I look forward to working with you as a team to help each scholar at JWES meet their personal goals and have a successful school year!
